 VIE FERRATE – Fixed-aid climbing routesFERRATA DEGLI ALLEGHESI (monte Civetta) The via ferrata degli Alleghesi is a long route, for experienced climbers. It reaches the summit of Monte Civetta, 3220 m / 10564 ft, one of the most spectacular and important peaks of the Dolomites. Route The route starts off in Palafavera, altitude 1514 m / 4967 ft, 2 km from the garni, where there is ample car parking in front of the hut. A straightforward path leads to the mountain refuge 'Rifugio Coldai' at 2132 m / 6994 ft. Subsequently, the route continues towards Forcella Coldai and then turns left following path n. 557 Tivàn. The path continues, ascending and descending, until it reaches a boulder, altitude 2300 m / 7545 ft, with a red 'Fta. Alleghesi' painted on it. From here the route turns off from trail n. 557 and continues uphill on the right, crosses a scree and a few equipped rocks and reaches the starting point of the ferrata. It immediately ascends a steep tract with stiles and then enters a sequence of gullies and short steep ledges leading to approximately halfway up the spur of Civetta peak; from here it first follows a ridge, continues through chimneys and gullies and then meets the northern ridge at an altitude of about 2800 m / 9186 ft. The route proceeds irregularly along the northern ridge, along a well-marked path, some parts of which are protected while others are easier, to finally reach the peak of Monte Civetta at an altitude of 3220 m / 10564 ft. The same via ferrata is suggested as the way back, leading to path n. 557 Tivàn, mountain refuge 'Rifugio Coldai', Palafavera. This rout is extremely arduous, due to its considerable length and difference in height.
